Are you a local grower of produce? The Creekside Farmers Market is now open in Needville to connect consumers looking to buy fresh, locally grown produce directly with growers. The market only allows local farmers to sell their own produce. There will be no distributors, resellers or importers, so the consumers will know they are buying fresh produce and dealing directly with the people involved in producing what they buy.
Consumers will be particularly looking for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, dairy products, eggs, nuts and meats. We are also looking for producers of dried herbs, spices, jams, preserves, salsas, and baked breads.
Booth rental space is $10. Backyard gardeners with just a few items will be able to share a booth. You set your own prices. You keep the money from all your sales.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make and sell crafts at the Farmer's Market?
The Creekside Farmers Market allows crafts that are agriculture related. For instance, crafts made from produce or items to be used in the garden. Items typically found in flea markets can be sold in the Needville City-wide Garage Sale which is held twice a year. Bring your crafts by the market and talk to the market manager if in doubt.
Can I sell my homemade jams and jellies and pies at the market?
While we are sure your homemade products are tasty, all prepared foods must comply with local health department regulations. That means the food must be prepared in an inspected (sometimes called a 'commercial ') kitchen. Kitchens located within a home do not qualify. The purpose of these regulations is to insure food quality is of the highest standards. Also, packaging must have a label with your contact information and the ingredients. Contact the Fort Bend County Health Department for additional details. Their phone number is 281-342-7469. Many of their forms and rules are on their website.
What do I need to bring?
All food vendors must sell their produce under cover. Most bring an easy-to-setup tent canopy available at Academy or similar stores. The market provides a space. You will need to bring your own tables, signage of what is available and its cost and some money to make change. That's it.
Can I sell yard eggs?
The Texas Department of Agriculture says an individual can sell yard eggs from their own flock. You cannot sell eggs from a friend or neighbor. Also, they must be labeled with your contact information and the words "Ungraded". Many vendors print address labels from their home computer with that information. Eggs must be stored at a temperature below 50 degrees. Store them on ice in an ice chest at the market as you sell them. Also, make sure they are clean and uncracked. Consumers are looking for fresh, healthy and high quality food when they visit a farmers market.
Can I sell beef, broilers, sausage or other types of meat?
There are numerous Texas Department of Agriculture processing requirements. If you have the animal butchered and packaged at a licenced facility, there should be no problem in selling meat at the market. You must have a way of keeping it cool (i.e. on ice) at all times. If you want to do your own butchering and processing, check with the TDA on what the requirements are for your situation. There are different rules applicable, including how many animals are processed per year at your location. As far as the farmers market is concerned, we would love to have you sell meat as long as you comply with any applicable laws.
